State Ed News – Macbeth
By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes… A limited number of evening performances of Macbeth are still available at school’s prices.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth; the conjoined, madly beating hearts around which a vengeance-soaked world spins… Monsters of ambition and savagery, or the fractured result of chaos and trauma? This extraordinary tale charts the brutal rise and fall of one of the theatre’s most complex couples as we follow them on their increasingly merciless path towards the crown.
A fast-paced adaptation by Geordie Brookman (State Theatre Company Artistic Director), Macbeth retains Shakespeare’s original language in a condensed and thrilling 90 minutes, a perfect introduction to Shakespeare for students in years 9 – 12.
All school bookings include access to pre-show briefing notes and study guide with cast and creative interviews, activities and continued learning suggestions.
Daytime school’s performances are completely sold out, but some evening performances remain. Contact Kimberley Martin on (08) 8415 5314 or email@example.com to book.
Macbeth stars the State Theatre Company Ensemble or Rachel Burke, Miranda Daughtry, Rashidi Edward, Dale March, Nathan O’Keefe and Anna Steen (A Doll’s House) with Peter Carroll (Beckett Triptych), Elena Carapetis (Summer of the Seventeenth Doll) and Christopher Pitman (Othello), designed by the brilliant Victoria Lamb (King Lear) and with a chilling soundtrack by DJ TR!P.
Running time: 90 mins
Preshow Briefing Notes and Study Guide will be available for download here from August 30.
