Theatre is communal. When you see a show, you are an active member of the theatrical experience. Your energy, your applause and emotion allows us to perform and tell stories that engage the heart and fire the imagination.
When you give to the theatre, you’re right there with us. You’re in the rehearsal room with us developing new, original Australian work. You’re in the workshop building props and creating worlds for audiences to dive into. You’re on the tour bus with us, helping us take art out into regional and metropolitan centres around the state, the country and the world.
Your support is integral to bringing our stories to life. For that, we cannot thank you enough.

You can play a starring role with State Theatre Company by directly supporting specific areas of interest through our three dedicated giving circles. These donor groups are vital in the commissioning of new works, supporting women in theatre, and providing young people with access to theatre through our Education Program. Please find out more below.
Jill Blewett Playwrights Award
Our Jill Blewett Playwrights Award Endowment Fund also provides vital support to playwrights during creative development of their work. Find out more about the Jill Blewett Playwrights Award, the Endowment Fund and 2018 Award-winner Emily Steel on the Awards & Commissions page.
Taking the next step
If you would like to learn more about how you can play a part in the future of State Theatre Company South Australia, or if you would like to join one of our Giving Circles, you can contact our Philanthropy Manager Cath Bauer at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 08 8415 5380.
Our Commissioning Collective provides an opportunity to nurture new, emerging, and established writers, artists, directors, designers, and technical crew, and commission original plays and new adaptations for South Australian audiences.
In 2018, the Commissioning Collective supported the entire production process of In The Club and The Gods Of Strangers, from their commission to each world premiere. This year, the group will support our searing, one-man version of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, an adaptation undertaken by Geordie Brookman, who will also direct the play. Animal Farm will be Geordie’s final production as Artistic Director of State Theatre Company.
Theatre opens minds to new worlds. It can uplift, push us out of our comfort zone and allow us to experience life from another’s perspective. Our Education Program is one of the country’s most successful, providing more than 11,500 young people, school students and high school teachers annually with the opportunity to experience outstanding live theatre, hear their stories on stage, and actively participate in workshops and work experience.
The Education Program includes daytime performances specifically for high school students, and a Q&A with the cast, as well as all sorts of workshops for both students and teachers. Philanthropic support for this program have led us to expand our regional touring opportunities and reach more of South Australia. Donors to this circle supported the making and regional tour of our 2019 Education show Animal Farm.
Since 2002, a fabulous group of inspiring women have supported State Theatre Company South Australia. Over the past 17 years, Dramatic Women have collectively supported outstanding artists and helped bring great theatrical works to the stage.
In 2019, Dramatic Women will support Kate Mulvany’s beloved theatrical adaptation of Craig Silvey’s novel Jasper Jones, and will be given the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of behind-the-scenes and VIP experiences throughout the production process.
