This may be a difficult conversation

Prepare to be triggered into fits of laughter by Eureka Day, an extremely funny and ultimately thoughtful new comedy” – ★★★★★ New York Stage Review

A rip-roaring, insightful production – one built for our fractured time” – ★★★★★ DC Theater Scene

Blisteringly satiric and provocative play (which) may just prove to be the best play of the year, certainly one of the most challenging and engrossing” – TheatreScene

A carefully orchestrated symphony of chaos.” – Washington Post

The hottest new comedy sensation coming out of New York is about to explode in Adelaide. A smash hit that demonstrates that the twin masks of the theatre – comedy and tragedy – will always be close cousins. What would happen if you combined the high farce of Black Is The New White, the wit and whimsy of Ripcord with the pathos and emotional kick of the duelling families in The Slap and lasered down on some of the most incendiary issues of our age? You’d get Jonathan Spector’s riotous and jaw-droppingly genius play, Eureka Day.

The Eureka Day School in Berkeley, California, is a bastion of progressive ideals: inclusivity, equality and social justice. All decisions are made by consensus, resulting in some very long meetings. But when a viral outbreak occurs at the school, parents are divided on a particularly prescient issue… vaccination.

Former Artistic Director (and recent star of Hibernation), Rosalba Clemente lights the fuse on what The New York Times called “the perfect play for our age of disagreement”. With a knockout cast including the star of Underbelly, Blue Heelers and ANZAC Girls, Caroline Craig, beloved Australian comedian and star of Certified Male and The Big Gig’s Glynn Nicholas, Sara Zwangobani (The Lord of the Rings), Juanita Navas-Nguyen (Bluey) and Matt Hyde (Macbeth), Eureka Day is the perfect heading-into-Christmas comedy to wrap up the 2021 Season.
