Bringing Theatre to the Next Generation. 

Every young person deserves the chance to experience the power of live theatre. The State Educate Fund helps make that possible by breaking down financial and geographic barriers that prevent school students from accessing our performances.

For many students, a visit to State Theatre Company South Australia is their first time seeing live theatre. These experiences can spark creativity, build confidence, and broaden worldviews. Thanks to the support of our donors, we’ve been able to welcome thousands of students to our shows—students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity.

How Your Donation Helps

Your support directly contributes to:

• Subsidised tickets for low-SES and regional schools
• Transport assistance to and from the theatre
• Education packs and pre-show resources for teachers and students
• Opportunities for students to meet artists and learn about careers in the arts

For only $26, you can inspire the next generation of artists, thinkers and storytellers by giving a student the opportunity to experience live theatre.

The impact of students attending Dear Son in our 2025 Season:

• 910 students attended through supported bookings
• 30 school groups participated, including those from regional and disadvantaged areas
• 2 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student groups were included
• Transport and ticket support were provided for Category 1–4 schools

Empower Students with Funded Theatre Experiences

Additionally, the State Educate Fund enables us to provide a funded spot for a student to attend a Summer or Winter School workshop — an opportunity they might not otherwise be able to afford. These workshops offer hands-on theatre-making experience, guided by leading industry professionals. As a key part of our State Educate program, they serve as excellent preparation for students studying drama at SACE Stage 1 or 2, or for those keen to further develop their theatrical skills.
